The last time I shared an update on David he had yet to have his first infusion of immunotherapy. When we went to that appointment the doctor shared a change in treatment plan.
We were told that the cancer was more widespread than originally thought and so we were no longer going to have just a couple of infusions and then surgery. The combination of drugs was changed for the infusions
as well, to a more aggressive combination, and they may or may not remove the large tumor on the back of his head. They liked the fact that it is so accessible for testing purposes.
So every 4 weeks David will have the infusion and after 3-5 infusions some form of test will be done to see what is happening to the cancer.
David had read some information related to immunotherapy infusions and fasting. So he decided to go into the first infusion
having fasted (water only) for 3 days, the doctor was fine with this, and I know having done a 5 day fast myself how great I felt on days 3-5. The information related to infusions is that the drugs are more effective when the body is in a state of autophagy.
He stopped fasting the following day. There are no symptoms of the Guillain-Barre syndrome returning -although he has been tired- he makes sure I know that he is not feeling weak.
His next infusion
is on July 6th.
Today I am making strawberry jam, and stitching.
